UN OKs medical cannabis

The UN has been talking about drugs at their ungass meeting in New York this week. The previous meeting talked about a drug free world. This time however, after the full devastation of the war on drugs has been felt, the UN body has changed. The focus is moving from punishment to a health care approach. There are now more drugs, more readily available than ever before. Simply jailing drug users is not helping. A drug addict is the consequences of a bad environment, bad choices and an availability of drugs. To change this situation, you can’t just focus on one part of the problem. We need a tilt away from our crooked friend, Richard Nixon’s policies of racism and move in a more responsible, compassionate direction.

For cannabis, there has been an interesting positive result. Medical cannabis has been recognized by the majority of participants. This means more acceptance of the plant being used as an alternative to current pharmaceutical options. The language is still unclear, but medical cannabis is moving forward. When we understand that all cannabis use is medicinally beneficial, it finally opens the door for cannabis.

It is now up to the general public. If we organize into cannabis clubs and show that we are both engaged and trustworthy, the plant will be adopted much quicker. Join or create a cannabis club. Get serious about becoming a professional medical cannabis grower but most of all, get active. The grey area surrounding cannabis has just increased in size. It is up to us to fill it with medical cannabis community cooperation.

Cannabis shows us how government/UN works

UN cannabis

A couple of days ago Richard Branson released an internal UN drugs policy document. In it, the leading global drugs experts called for an immediate end to the war on drugs. It is clear to these experts that the war on drugs is much more damaging than the drugs themselves. Now lets give ourselves a bit of a reality check. Prescription drugs kill more people than all the deaths by illegal drugs. We only care about cannabis here at Praguepot because unlike the nasty, dangerous drugs, cannabis is processed by growing it, then drying it, then (if you are smart) vaporizing or eating it. No lab required. Just a small, clean, well ventilated spot and hey presto, you have a ready made medicine that can effectively treat up to half of life’s illnesses.

We have seen scientific study after scientific study proving how healthy cannabis is but we are still caught in no mans land. It is clear that the pharmaceutical industry is taking the financial consequences of legal cannabis very seriously. America is the richest nation on Earth. The biggest industry in America is drugs. Imagine that, the country with the greatest and most frequently used army on the planet, also happens to be protecting the commercial interests of the biggest legal drug dealers. Pharmaceutical companies have a strangle hold on governments around the world. Anyone following the secretive international trade deals (TPP etc) will know that big legal drug dealers will now have unrestricted access to the worlds population.

So if you are a huge drug dealer, everyone, including the UN will celebrate your success. If however, you are a sick granny growing some pot to help fight diseases common in old age, fuck you, you are a criminal and we are going to try and ruin your life. Never mind that no one has ever died from cannabis and it has cured an army of people far larger than our American friend’s army, the plant is illegal. With side effects like, happiness, giggles, good appetite and a great nights sleep you might need to take a few breaths and let that sink in. Cannabis is healthy for you, the UN knows this and it knows that the war on drugs is very damaging for society but still we are pretending that the laws regarding cannabis are legitimate. When Richard Branson did the decent thing and exposed clearly what the UN is thinking, they denied and blocked Richards efforts. The war on drugs has increased human suffering. The UN and our governments have sat and watched this suffering while taking money personally from large  legal drug dealers. GlaxoSmithKleine is a huge drug dealer. They have so much money and virtually no authority over them. They have knowingly killed people with their drugs and they don’t care about anything other than the next quarters profits.

So what can we do? Faced with this kind of opposition, it is easy to think about giving up. Each of us are the end result of millions of years of evolution and finally here we are, stuck between a monster drug dealer and a cold hearted, warped government killer. Do you think we have been crafted by nature only to give up at this moment? The psychos in our society have captured government. There is a long history of the worst human behavior ending up at the top. I guess it is natural, good people are more gentle and are easily bullied by vicious people. The only problem for those vicious people is, the gentle people are capable of being strong and forceful when they have finally had enough. Reading your history books you will see we have revolutions as a species. We get so fed up that eventually we all organize and start hanging the psychopaths. I think we are approaching one of those moments. We don’t need to hang anyone, but we must all stop cooperating with the system until we have real justice and a rational approach to society.

Cannabis is an anti cancer agent. It kills cancer cells while leaving healthy cells undamaged. It does many other beneficial things and even though your government says it is naughty, you should know how to grow cannabis and be organizing yourselves into groups. We have a cannabis church you can join, there are many activist groups packed with cool people who care but are now getting well past pissed off and we have you. You are the most important part of this drama. We need you to understand that it is us against them. If we don’t do something our grandchildren will be legal drug dealer’s slaves. You can be the difference.

UN drugs committee calls for the end of the war on drugs

UN cannabis

Richard Branson has once again proven invaluable to our cannabis movement. He is a member of the Global Commission on Drugs Policy and has aggressively sought the end of the war on drugs. Richard has released an internal UN document that has called for the ending of the war on drugs. He is a clever business person and by publishing this document, he puts pressure on the UN to actually act for the good of the public it is supposed to serve. The UN has reacted defensively but the game has changed. We are seeing the end of prohibition. We can be a species that relies on science to dictate policy rather than political special, cynical commercial interests. In reality, the drugs war has utterly failed. Cannabis is an anti-cancer fighting substance. You grow the plant, dry it and then consume it. It boosts your health system and helps develop compassionate communities. We have a serious cancer epidemic that is being ignored. Praguepot calls for anyone that can, to start growing cannabis for their own use and for those around you that need this medicine. When laws are unjust, when they deny health or suppress our individual freedoms , we do not need to follow those laws. In fact, we must actively resist these laws for the good of future generations.

It is time for our younger generation to wake up. No more bitching about how the system seems fucked up. It is up to us to resist the older generation’s misguided, ill-informed nonsense on cannabis. Grow cannabis, be happy and form compassionate communities when you meet like minded souls.

The war on UK pot prohibition has begun

UK cannabis

We have had a very interesting week for cannabis prohibition in the UK. First we had a bombshell. Durham police commissioner Hogg announced that cannabis was no longer a priority for his force. They would not be wasting any more time or tax payers money on small growers or people in possession of cannabis. Usually police commissioners wait until they have left their job of influence to declare, the war on drugs has failed. Commissioner Hogg is one of those rare, high minded officials with a genuine sense of duty to the community. Prohibition clearly doesn’t work and it is rotting society from the youth up. Police and government have been criminally wrong on cannabis. It is an incredible medicine and a potential game changer for the wider society.

After the positive pot headlines it was only a matter of hours before the Conservative hatchet machine went to work. A picture of Durham police commissioner Hogg with some cannabis activists was published by the far right wing Daily Mail newspaper. The headline; police commissioner works with convicted criminal Ziggy Mustafa Spliff. We got to see the Daily Mail misinform and uphold the interests of its wealthy, conservative owners. Big Pharmaceutical business interests are threatened by cannabis, so the daily mail has to attack on their behalf. Ziggy was arrested for possession of cannabis and he did intend to supply the plant to people, but there is one huge piece of information that the paper left out. He was supplying the herb to sick people and using the plant to treat his own medical condition.

Ziggy’s father died of cancer. He went through a 5 year battle with him and during that time, learnt how to produce cannabis oil which helped manage his father’s illness. After the funeral, a grieving son told his friends that he would establish a cannabis club to treat sick people. Today Teeside cannabis club is working hard to give support and information to the local community. The time and effort that they put into making their community a better place is impressive. Providing cannabis to sick people is not an easy task. Besides the police threat, at times you are giving comfort to someone who is in the last moments of life. Sharing this end journey with a stranger, risking jail, harassment and emotional pain is an act of love and compassion. Ziggy’s real name is Michael Fisher. He is 30 years old and is a modern English hero. When the dust settles on prohibition, when the whole of society understand the medical benefit of the plant, we will finally and clearly understand the reasons Ziggy was arrested. He is a care giver and thankfully he is not the only one. Brave activists are fighting against the ignorance of prohibition. The dailymail tried to do a hatchet job on the character of both commissioner Hogg and Michael Fisher, but instead they have merely highlighted a couple of our proud movement’s greatest sons.

To continue the momentum we are ending this week with news that an online petition seeking a parliament debate on cannabis has reached its target number of signatories. Over 100,000 people signed the petition in a matter of days. We must understand that our collective power is expressed when we organize and take action. Our planet and species cannot survive if we continue down the path of  greedy capitalism, we must find a new balance. Support your local cannabis clubs, get involved in local activism and stand up for people like Ziggy and Ron Hogg.

If you are in the UK, here are some ways you can get involved:

My cannabis journey

cannabis journey

I never had the luxury of being a full time stoner. There was always so much to be done that spending the day in a haze of haze just wasn’t an option. My cannabis journey started in a small, damp, stone cottage up in the mountains. Having never been a tobacco smoker I didn’t like joints so instead I used a pin and a small lump of hash. Though primitive, it did the trick. From this beginning, cannabis became a part of my life. Sharing pot with friends is a beautiful thing. The fact that it is illegal adds to the experience. Back then we didn’t know about cannabis and its cancer fighting properties. We didn’t know about different strains or the difference between organic and chemically grown. I just knew that I liked it. So did all my friends. Years later, as we follow our own paths there isn’t one of us that regrets our pot use. It hasn’t slowed down or perverted who we were going to become.

Instead of becoming a lawyer, a doctor, a postman or a painter, I have chosen to become a cannabis activist. At some point in life you have to stand for something. For me, with praguepot I am standing up for cannabis. The plant is a direct dialogue with nature. Like a message in a bottle, cannabis is reconnecting us with the natural world. Cannabis promotes peace and helps de-stress. It is hard to imagine why we would have a problem with someone using cannabis but then you look around and see people having problems with everything. Gay marriage, racial tensions, problems with poor people, distrust of funny religions. We are not an open minded bunch. Society is being pulled by two types of people. Those who want to keep things as they are, and those that want to change. Both have reasons for their point of views. The conservatives have done very nicely out of keeping things the same. Why would they even want to think about cannabis when they profit from alcohol and prescription drugs. Those looking for change can imagine a better tomorrow. Pushing against a system that doesn’t want to change is not as much fun as you would think. Between being ignored and harassed however, it is possible to help our world evolve.

The science that is leaking out on marijuana is exciting. I have first hand experience of the medicinal benefits of the plant. It really does help with chronic pain, and epilepsy, and cancer, and Crohn’s Disease and a long list of other ailments. As pot becomes legal in more and more American states we will witness the positive contribution pot can make. A year of legal marijuana in Colorado has resulted in zero deaths. In fact, painkiller overdoses have decreased by 25% in states that have access to medical marijuana. This is a shocking number. Add into the mix the lost revenues for serious criminals and you would have to explain very slowly again why pot remains illegal.

History will put cannabis prohibition in the same box as alcohol prohibition. It simply doesn’t work to criminalize a vast section of the community. Look at all the suffering cannabis prohibition has caused. It is by far the most damaging aspect of the plant. We need more people switching on, taking personal responsibility to help change the world into a better version of itself. It has never been more important to get active. Progress only happens with personal participation, so let’s get moving!!

Drug war nonsense

It still amazes me how backward our system of government really is. We now know cannabis is not dangerous. Enforcing the prohibition of this plant is a complete waste of our resources. The video below shows the child like nature of the DEA when it comes to cannabis. Since when was it acceptable for grown adults to behave in this way? Look at the science, and correct the prohibition nonsense. We have a world that is being polluted by short sighted economic policies, war for oil and systemic corruption. Do we really want to stay distracted by this non facts based cannabis argument?

90% of doctors don’t know about the endocannabinoid system

Little is known and taught about the endocannabinoid system. Much like our hormonal system, it plays an active, vital role in maintaining our health. Dr. Mechoulam, one of Israel’s greatest sons, discovered the system in the 1990’s. Not only do our bodies have receptor sites cued just for cannabinoids, our bodies actually produce them internally. The active ingredients in cannabis naturally complement this system which affects pain, inflammation and our immune system. It is suspected that many illnesses are caused by a deficiency in the endocannabinoid system. In the following years of research the true insanity of the war on cannabis will be known. Smoking cannabis over a 20 year period reduces the risk of diabetes by 66%. There is no medication currently on the market that can compete with this.
Basically, whether you are using cannabis for fun or as a medicine, you are receiving the health benefits in your endocannabinoid system anyway. This is great news for a health conscious society but bad news for big pharma, the law enforcement and alcohol industries. The short video below gives us a first glance at this system.
